Kate's Cowboy Promise - Workforce Training

Free Tuition for Local High School Graduates

Southwest Texas College (SWTX) proudly announces Kate’s Cowboy Promise - Workforce, the promise of free tuition for Workforce Training Programs for graduates from a Uvalde, Real, Frio, Zavala, La Salle, or Dimmit County high school. Named for Kate Marmion, who graduated from Uvalde High School in 2006, Kate’s Cowboy Promise has been funded by the Kate Marmion Charitable Foundation.

Eligibility

  • Graduate from a high school in Uvalde, Frio, Real, Zavala, La Salle, or Dimmit County
    • Uvalde High School, Knippa High School, Sabinal High School, Utopia High School
    • Pearsall High School & Dilley High School
    • Leakey High School & Nueces Canyon High School
    • Crystal City High School & La Pryor High School
    • Carrizo Springs High School & Cotulla High School
    • Charter School, Private School, and Home School students from these counties are also eligible
  • Enroll in an approved Workforce Program at Southwest Texas College 
  • Begin the Workforce Training Program within the calendar year following your high school graduation
  • Must complete the program

  • Powerline Technology (Student Already Holds CDL)
  • Professional Truck Driving (CDL)
  • Clinical Medical Assistant
  • Clinical Medical Assistant + Phlebotomy
  • Phlebotomy Technician
  • Mental Health Services Technician
  • Electricity Principles
  • Pharmacy Technician
  • Dental Assistant

How to Qualify

Step 1: Register for a Workforce Training Program

    1. Contact the Workforce Training & Development office to receive the registration packet and program requirements. Requirements vary by program.

    2. Review the program requirements and complete the registration packet.
    3. Do not email the completed registration packet, as it contains sensitive personal information.
    4. Once your packet is complete, deliver it to one of the following Workforce Training & Development locations:

Once your registration packet has been received and reviewed, a Workforce Training & Development staff member will contact you regarding funding eligibility, any remaining program requirements, and the next steps in the enrollment process.
