Start a Pathway Toward an Associate of Science Degree

An Associate of Science (A.S.) offers course work appropriate for students planning to transfer to a four-year institution and pursue a Bachelor of Science Degree.

While certain courses are recommended, the requirements are 42-hour General Education Core coursework as well as 18 elective hours appropriate for baccalaureate degree programs in Mathematics.

Students should always consult with an academic advisor regarding transfer to a specific college or university. In addition, students should consult with an advisor at the Texas college or university to which they are transferring for additional information.

An Associates of Science Degree from Southwest Texas College provides the foundation for transfer to a university. Completion of a bachelor’s degree with a major in Science or Math develops strong (Critical Thinking Skills, Communication Skills, Empirical & Quantitative Skills) required in a variety of career settings.
